About Us

The Sumter County Healthcare Coalition (SCHC) is an association of community Healthcare organizations with disaster planning and operations responsibilities or capabilities.  The SCHC is dedicated to creating and promoting a state of readiness and actively working recovery efforts to protect the health of Sumter County residents during catastrophic events, large scale disasters and emergencies. This mission is accomplished by coordinating education, assessment, planning, and support services involving public health providers, private medical providers, public safety agencies and government officials.  SCHC is not a competing, exclusionary or a responding organization. SCHC is intended to be a network for organizations active in disasters. Each member organization maintains its own identity and independence while closely collaborating with the other member organizations.

Mission

The mission of the Sumter Health and Medical Preparedness Coalition is to enhance collaborative response efforts to disasters and emergencies by mobilizing local assets to meet community, county and regional needs.

Meetings

The SCHC conducts meetings held on the third Thursday of every other month at the Sumter County Emergency Operations Center.  The EOC is located at 7361 Powell Road Wildwood, FL 34785.  Our meetings are open to the public.
