Citrus County Community Wide Infectious Disease Control Full-Scale Exercise
This exercise is designed to train county governmental and non-governmental agencies on the proper procedures for responding to, reporting, and mitigating an infectious disease outbreak. The exercise scenario, objectives, and participation instructions have been developed to meet Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Florida Department of Health (FDOH) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements. The exercise is planned for 3 hours on each of the scheduled dates to allow flexibility in agency participation. Exercise play will consist of establishing an Incident Command Center for the affected facilities, use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and reporting requirements. Proper donning and doffing procedures will be evaluated per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance on the Prevention and Control of Norovirus. This scenario is particularly relevant for long-term healthcare facilities (including skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities, assisted living facilities, and non-acute care hospitals) and non-residential health care facilities (including home health agencies, durable medical equipment providers, nurse registries and hospice agencies).
