Tampa Bay Region After Action Report – Hurricane IRMA 2017

The purpose of this report is to analyze the results, identify strengths to be maintained and built upon, identify potential areas for further improvement, and support development of corrective actions resulting from Hurricane Irma’s impact throughout Florida.
As Hurricane Irma was approaching Florida, Brian Koon (Director of Florida’s Division of Emergency Management) said, “Florida is about to get hit by a semi-truck. No matter what part of the State you’re in its gonna hurt.” General Dwight D. Eisenhower was famously quoted as saying, “planning is essential but the plan never survives first contact with the enemy.” And lastly, Mike Tyson once said, “Everybody has a plan until you get hit in the face.” Florida got hit in the face by a semi-truck named Hurricane Irma and far too many health care system disaster plans didn’t fully survive first contact.  Please Click the Button to the right for access to the Full regional after action report
